From the early days of jazz through decades of R&B and hip-hop to today, The Apollo Theater has been — and continues to be — the mecca of Black culture. Now, SiriusXM is spotlighting the music and artists that have graced the stage and been influenced by the legendary organization when The Apollo Theater Channel airs starting February 14 for two weeks on Channel 104 and for 30 days on the SXM App.

The Apollo Theater Channel features SiriusXM Apollo shows (including Alicia Keys and H.E.R), those who’ve been inspired by The Apollo, and classic performances from the iconic Apollo stage. You’ll hear songs by James Brown, Mary J. Blige, Stevie Wonder, Lauryn Hill, Marvin Gaye, Jazmine Sullivan, Keith Sweat, H.E.R., Ray Charles, D’Angelo, and many more.

Also, the channel will include classic R&B and hip-hop performances from the iconic Showtime At The Apollo TV series. You’ll hear performances by Mary J. Blige, Patti LaBelle, LL COOL J, The Temptations, Puff Daddy, TLC, Queen Latifah, Boyz II Men, Toni Braxton, OutKast, and Aaliyah.

Black History Month on SiriusXM

Throughout February, SiriusXM listeners will find a collection of limited-run channels and special events that spotlight the artists and other influential figures who have transformed Black communities and shaped society, art, and more.

In addition to The Apollo Theater Channel, other Black History Month channels include The Whitney Channel, Notorious Radio, and Black Music Forever.

SiriusXM’s existing music channels will also include a variety of content celebrating Black artists. Black athletes and leaders will be honored through a variety of special rebroadcasts across SiriusXM’s sports channels. SiriusXM’s comedy programming will take a look at some of the biggest names in standup, past and present, celebrating Black excellence in comedy, and SiriusXM will also spotlight special talk programming to amplify Black voices in politics, health, and business.
