“The Beach Boys,” an all-new documentary, will stream exclusively on Disney+ beginning May 24. The film is a celebration of the legendary band that revolutionized pop music, and the iconic, harmonious sound they created that personified the California dream, captivating fans for generations and generations to come. The documentary traces the band from humble family beginnings and features never-before-seen footage and all-new interviews with The Beach Boys’ Brian Wilson, Mike Love, Al Jardine, David Marks, and Bruce Johnston, plus other luminaries in the music business, including Lindsey Buckingham, Janelle Monáe, Ryan Tedder, and Don Was. Viewers will also hear from the group’s Carl and Dennis Wilson in their own words, plus view a new interview with Blondie Chaplin and hear audio from Ricky Fataar. The official soundtrack for “The Beach Boys,” featuring songs from the film, will be available on May 24.
In addition, several of the group’s most iconic albums are being reissued throughout the year as limited edition color vinyl pressings, including their magnum opus, “Pet Sounds,” and their two 1964 classics, “Shut Down, Vol. 2” and “All Summer Long,” in celebration of their 60th anniversaries.
For those wanting to dig deeper into the band’s extensive catalog, “Sounds of Summer: The Very Best Of The Beach Boys” offers 80 tracks of Beach Boys bliss and is available now.
The group’s only official book, “The Beach Boys by The Beach Boys,” was released April 2 via Genesis Publications.
