Tonight, SiriusXM wraps up Deep in the Heart of Texas: Behind the Scenes with the 2016 Rangers, an original three-part radio series that takes a “reality style” look at the Texas Rangers. MLB Network Radio embedded themselves with the franchise during this season’s Spring Training, accompanying team members in the clubhouse, on the field, on the team bus, and during their spare time away from the ballpark to give the audience an in-depth, often lighthearted perspective on the team’s personalities as they go through spring training.

Here are host Casey Stern‘s final thoughts on what he learned from inside the clubhouse to the confines of the Rangers team bus.

It all begins at the top, and in this case, with family. I’ve known Jon Daniels since he first took the role as General Manager of the Rangers at 28. Since then, I’ve had countless conversations with him about his roster, his team, and his new beloved city. To see him with his son talking about the trials, tribulations, and pride of being president of this organization, put him in a different light. This is a smart, passionate and sincere man, who wants nothing more than to leave a positive legacy within the Rangers organization and the surrounding community.

Veteran starter Colby Lewis continues to reinvent a career that many thought was over when he traveled to Japan for “one last shot” in 2008. He spent time teaching me the way he has stayed in shape through the years and the ups and downs. (Luckily it was only 20 minutes, otherwise I would have spun from the bike straight off the reservation.)

Jeremy Guthrie knows all about the “one last shot” mentality, as the well-respected veteran hopes to show the Rangers he still belongs on that bump in a big spot. Just months removed from back-to-back World Series with the Royals, Guthrie sits down with me for dinner, talking about what keeps him motivated, the drive to get his degree, and his undying obsession with The Bachelor.

Last but not least, Adrian Beltre. Despite being a future Hall of Famer and undoubtedly the greatest third baseman to ever play the game, he never gets any national fanfare. Adrian is the kind of humble, genuine human that has to be heard to be believed. His love for his teammates (as long as they don’t touch his head) and respect for the game tells you everything you need to know about why they call him “The Captain.”
