One of the most anticipated matchups in boxing will take place later this year, but no, it’s probably not the one you’re thinking of.
Saul “Canelo” Alvarez and Gennady “GGG” Golovkin are slated to face-off on September 16 to decide who is the best middleweight in the world. Unlike Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Conor McGregor, who have both mastered the art of trash talking their past opponents, GGG and Canelo are most comfortable speaking with their fists.
Of their combined 88 fights, the two middleweight bruisers boast a total of 67 knockouts. They both understand that their fight will be as close to 50-50 as you can get. Both fighters joined The Luke Thomas Show on SiriusXM RUSH to talk about their upcoming fight.
Of course, neither fighter could escape the inevitable question: How do they feel about Floyd Mayweather and UFC champion Conor McGregor agreeing to a boxing match three weeks before their own in Las Vegas. For his part, GGG doesn’t think much of the bout.

“I don’t know if it’s a business show or a funny show, or for somebody and interesting show, but not for us,” GGG said. “It’s not for boxing…this is for business.”
