David Cassidy, best known for his role as dreamy Keith on the 1970s sitcom The Partridge Family, died Tuesday, his publicist confirmed. He was 67.
“My uncle David Cassidy has sadly passed away tonight,” Jack Cassidy tweeted. “I don’t think I’m alone in saying that we will all miss him.”
David Cassidy first achieved heartthrob status as the eldest son in a family band on ABC’s The Partridge Family. The sitcom generated some major pop hits, including I Think I Love You.
The guitarist continued his musical career, recording solo albums and returning to the US charts in the ’90s. He performed as recently as this year.
Earlier in 2017, Cassidy revealed to People magazine that he was battling dementia. “I was in denial, but a part of me always knew this was coming,” he said at the time. His grandfather and mother suffered from the same disease.
