Does the name Shah Jahan ring a bell? Probably not, but I bet you have heard of the legendary mammoth white marble mausoleum he built in honor of his wife who died during childbirth. That building is called the Taj Mahal. The Taj is truly an everlasting symbol of Jahan’s love for his late wife Mumtaz Mahal. You really can’t more romantic than that on this Valentine’s Day weekend.
Writer Haroon Moghul, who wrote about the story behind the Taj for The Washington Post, will join me on my LIVE show Saturday morning to talk more about how the Taj reminds him that Islam is a religion of love.
Is the U.S. economy and even the world economy teetering on brink of recession? Just a week ago unemployment fell to 4.9 percent in the United States, the lowest number since February 2008. But the stock market – which is often a predictor of economic conditions in the near future – has fallen since the start of this year to its lowest level since April 2014. Bottom line: Even if you don’t have stocks, should you be worried that the economy is about to really take a nose dive like we saw in 2008? Is it panic time?! Or is it no big deal? And how will the economic uncertainty impact the 2016 presidential race? Ali Velshi, host of Al Jazeera America’s Ali Velshi on Target (and long time host before that of CNN’s Your Money) joins me to talk about where the economy is heading and answer your questions.
Does Syrian cease-fire help civilians or ISIS more? NBC’s counter-terrorism expert Laith Alkhouri will join me to talk the partial case fire in Syria announced Friday. While this is positive news, the ceasefire doesn’t include ISIS or the Al Qaeda affiliate Nusra Front. The question is does the ceasefire help ISIS, Syrian leader Assad or the civilian population more? Plus we will discuss the humanitarian crisis facing the people of Aleppo, Syria where a recent surge in fighting resulted in 50,000 people being forced to flee for their lives which is on top of the millions who already are refugees.
