Ded premieres video for ‘Anti-Everything’ exclusively on Octane!
“Anti-everything to me, is me being beyond frustrated with the way things are to the point that I have to throw my hands up and say, ‘I’m none of this, I’m creating my own lane,'” says frontman Joe Cotela.
Ded’s new song Anti-Everything was named SiriusXM Octane’s Song of the Summer 2017 for being “an anthem about free thinking, being completely frustrated with everything around you, and about wanting to be an individual.” Ded just released the video for the song and since Octane (Ch. 37) has championed Ded since Day 1, their fans can be the first to see it!
Anti-Everything current sits in the Top 20 on Billboard’s Mainstream Rock chart. If the song makes it to No. 1, it will be the first time a rock band has topped the chart with a debut single in nearly 10 years!
Frontman Joe Cotela said the band was inspired to write the song after recognizing unspeakable things humans do to one another and wanting distance themselves from the phenomena.
“We see these terrible things happening all over the world, and I don’t want to be associated with any of it,” Cotela said. “These negative acts and humans do not speak for me or the people that I surround myself with. I’m not going to tell anyone how to think, but I’m doing my best to stay conscious and aware of the way that I’m impacting the world. We should be past this bullshit. We are better than this. The images depicted here are only a small part of the influence of Anti-everything. There is so much more. The phrase can be left up to you to interpret based on you and your lifestyle. Anti-everything, to me, is me being beyond frustrated with the way things are to the point that I have to throw my hands up and say, ‘I’m none of this, I’m creating my own lane.’”
The video for the song features cultural references to the current landscape of America and includes footage of celebrities like Donald Trump, Hillary Clinton, Kanye West, the Kardashian family as well as moments of terrorism and racism caught on camera.
Hear Anti-Everything on Octane and stay tuned for Ded’s debut album, MIS•AN•THROPE, is due out July 21.
