Imagine “the best soy latte that you ever had and…” a Mai Tai? As part of our “Dial Up the Moment” campaign, Train took things to the next level by transporting fans to a tropical paradise (via song) right in the middle of an intimate NYC coffeeshop. Last Wednesday, December 11, Train — who your ears may also recognize from Train Tracks on The Pulse (Ch. 15), hosted by frontman Pat Monahan — surprised fans with a pop-up performance at The Bean in the East Village. Listeners hoping to escape the cold got an extra treat as Skylar Grey joined the band for a performance of their new single, “Mai Tais,” the perfect soundtrack for daydreaming about being anywhere but Manhattan on a 30-degree afternoon.
The band also showed love to their older favorites, performing earworm classics like “Hey, Soul Sister” and “Drive By.” For those who missed it, the performance will be airing on The Pulse this Thursday, December 19 at 6pm and 9pm ET, then again on Friday, December 20 at 12pm ET; Saturday, December 21 at 9am and 3pm ET; and Sunday, December 22 at 6pm ET.
