Dickey Betts’ career
Forrest Richard Betts was born in West Palm Beach, and at an early age, his family’s interest in music exposed him to bluegrass, country, and western swing.
At 24, Betts formed Second Coming with Berry Oakley, and two years later, The Allman Brothers Band was born with the addition of Gregg and Duane Allman.
Duane’s tragic passing in 1971 left him as the band’s sole guitarist.
