It was a long presidential campaign. It felt like an even longer election night as the world watched results trickle in from across the country.
After taking the key battleground states of Pennsylvania, Ohio and Florida, Donald Trump was declared the winner by the Associated Press at 2:30 a.m. ET Wednesday defeating Hillary Clinton.
“To all Republicans and Democrats and Independents across this nation, I say it’s time for us to come together as one united people,” Trump said to the crowd of supporters gathered at his NYC headquarters. “It’s time. I pledge to every citizen of our land I will be president of all citizens of our land.”
Trump will become the 45th president of the U.S.
“Our’s wasn’t a campaign, but rather a powerful and incredible, great movement,” Trump said, during a speech in which he praised Hillary Clinton, thanked his family and looked toward the future.
Clinton declined to publicly concede as of 2:45 a.m. ET Wednesday but multiple media outlets and Trump reported she called to congratulate him.
