In a statement, the band described But Here We Are as “a brutally honest and emotionally raw response to everything [they have] endured over the last year … a testament to the healing powers of music, friendship and family.” It will be a fresh and deeper take on the sound of their 1995 debut.

Foo Fighters haven’t released a studio album since 2021’s Medicine at Midnight. After Taylor Hawkins’ death, they canceled their remaining scheduled performances and only took the stage for two tribute shows at the end of 2022. Although no replacement drummer has been announced yet, the band is set to begin headlining major music festivals across the country — including Boston Calling, Sonic Temple, and Bonnaroo — starting next month.
