SiriusXM’s first all-talk channel about music VOLUME (Ch. 106) launched today with Nik Carter and Lori Majewski kicking off their daily show, Feedback, at 7 a.m. ET. It was an early call time for the hosts but, as Majewski put it: “It’s a small price to pay to be able to talk music everyday.”

The two hosts brought their A-game and started off their show with two A-list music stars: Lady Gaga and Kenny Loggins.

Tensions were high as the mics went hot, but Carter drew on his NYU acting major to start the show, while Lori impressed us all when she dropped her major ’90s cred: she used to work at the legendary teen magazine, Sassy.

While Lori started in magazines and Nik in radio, both hosts brought their enthusiasm and passion for music to the show this morning, especially when it came time to announce that on Tuesday (Oct. 18) Rock & Roll Hall of Fame CEO Joel Peresman and 2014 Rock & Roll Hall of Fame inductee Stevie Van Zandt will announce the 2017 Rock & Roll Hall of Fame nominees live on Feedback. Lori and Nik don’t necessarily agree on who should be inducted (Lori feels strongly that Janet Jackson is worthy, while Nik is rooting for The Replacements to make the cut). But one thing both hosts definitely do agree on, is how talented their first interviewee, Lady Gaga is.

During an emotional segment, Lady Gaga broke down in tears as she talked about her new autobiographical album Joanne during a sit-down interview with Nik and Lori.

“There is a lot of pain in the record …I wouldn’t say it’s necessarily thematically painful the whole way through because it’s quite a fun album as well. … The pain is in my voice,” Lady Gaga says during the emotional interview. “I just remember my mom when she first heard a couple of songs on the album, she just looked at me and she was just crying and I said ‘What’s wrong?’ She just said, ‘Nothing it’s so good and I don’t want you to take this the wrong way because it’s not a bad thing, but your voice just sounds different. I can just hear that you’re in some emotional pain.’”

Another segment that Feedback listeners can look forward to is a sit-down every Monday morning with Robbie Daw from idolator, as he discusses the newest music releases every week. Robbi stopped by Feedback during Nik and Lori’s first broadcast, to talk new music from artists like JoJo, the Dum Dum Girls, and the return of musicians like Hillary Duff and Mandy Moore who are now taking their careers to the small screen.

The final segment of Feedback’s first broadcast ended with legendary singer-songwriter Kenny Loggins in the studio discussing his music career, his favorite covers of his songs, and his new children’s book, Footloose.

While Loggins is hoping Footloose will be a New York Times bestseller, he was just as excited to turn the conversation over to music and his remarkable career. Nik begged Loggins for a Stevie Nicks story, to which he shared, “Stevie is a sweetheart. We toured together, I was the opening act on the Rumors tour because I had just gone solo. So they grabbed me and put me up for $50 a night, I think it was a good deal. It was a very lucky break for me. But really it was my duet with Stevie that I attribute to the breakout for me, the success I had as a soloist because you look back at all the duos and bands that guys went solo from and very few actually got to get a career out of it.”

Nik and Lori will break down and discuss the best of the music industry during Feedback every weekday morning at 7 a.m. ET/4 a.m. PT on VOLUME, SiriusXM Channel 106.
