The trial of the century divided the country across lines of race and sex in the 1990s — and split today’s most famous family.
When O.J. Simpson was accused of murdering his ex-wife Nicole Brown Simpson, Robert Kardashian served on his defense team while his ex-wife Kris Jenner “marshaled the forces” and helped bring women who allegedly witnessed the football star abusing her forward, prosecutor Marcia Clark told Andy Cohen.
The jury ruled Simpson innocent, but the critically acclaimed miniseries The People v. O.J. Simpson: American Crime Story casts more doubt on the verdict, which Clark thinks even Kardashian eventually questioned.
“He would never say it to me, he’s a pro, but I could see the change, and I could see him having more and more trouble,” she said on Deep & Shallow with Andy Cohen. “I think he started out a true believer, ‘My friend couldn’t do it.’ And by the way, he’s a good guy, Bob Kardashian. Really, really super nice, got along with him very well. He was always a nice guy, and I could see him, I could see the shift, I could see the trouble in his eyes. I think by the end of it he certainly knew.”
Listen to the clip below to hear how Clark says Judge Lance Ito created “the most sexist experience I had in a courtroom.”
