Mick Jagger turns 73 on July 26, but you wouldn’t know it.

The Rolling Stones front man and cultural icon is still making headlines, still performing and still being Mick Jagger. With a personality like no other, the intrepid star has seen it and done it all — literally.

Here are 7 of the “most Mick” moments from his 50-plus-year career, when Jagger was most his eccentric, compelling, unforgettable self.

The eye roll

On January 15, 1967, the Rolling Stones were slated to perform their frisky song Let’s Spend the Night Together on the Ed Sullivan Show. But before the band went on the air, the no-nonsense Sullivan told Jagger that he would have to alter the suggestive lyrics. He complied but definitely made his feelings known. Throughout the performance Mick rolled his eyes and gave so many legendary side-eyes that the Sullivan forbade the band from ever performing on the show again. That condemnation was short-lived, though: The Stones were back on the show two years later.

The Start Me Up video

Remember the tight purple-striped shirt, the white pants, the iconic gyrating and strutting, the facial expressions and, of course, the arms? The popular 1981 video for Start Me Up, one of the Rolling Stone’s best songs, is campy and perhaps terrible to some (it was the ’80s, what did you expect?), but Jagger is so “Mick” in it that you can’t help but be completely fascinated by his magnetic charisma. .

Jamming with David Bowie

Jagger broke out his signature moves in the Dancing in the Streets video and brought David Bowie along for the outrageous ride. The pair’s 1985 remake of the Martha and the Vandellas hit is a hoot, and the video is just as amusing. The two ham it up and romp for the camera while trying to out-cavort each other.

Keeping it real with Keith

In 1988, Jagger’s longtime Stones bandmate Keith Richards said, “99 percent of the male population of the Western world — and beyond — would give a limb to live the life of Mick Jagger.” But over the years, the words haven’t been so complimentary. The rockers have famously bashed each other in the press, but despite the public feuding, they both still have love for each other.

The 1972 interview with Dick Cavett

The interview takes place backstage at one of The Rolling Stones’ concerts, and Jagger, armed with his own camera, is funny, witty, cool, actually eating a carrot that Cavett strangely offers him.

The SNL skits

Jagger has appeared on SNL quite a few times as a performer and as part of some pretty hilarious and zany sketches. Not only has Jagger shown he has a natural comedic ability, but he’s also proven that he doesn’t mind poking fun at himself.

He’s a great-grandfather who’s about to be a father again

Already a father of seven from four previous relationships, the 73 year-old great-grandfather — who has reportedly slept with 4,000 women — is about to bring another Jagger into the world, this time with his 29-year-old girlfriend Melanie Hamrick. Are we surprised? Nope, not at all.
