Miley Cyrus Isn’t Sorry at All in New Music Video for ‘Jaded’
In Miley Cyrus’ new music video for “Jaded,” she appears to be the real cynic in the aftermath of a relationship, despite lyrics to the contrary.

Merriam-Webster defines “jaded” as “made dull, apathetic, or cynical by experience or by having or seeing too much of something.”
And in Miley Cyrus‘ new music video for “Jaded” — the third Endless Summer Vacation single after “Flowers” and “River” — she appears to be the real cynic in the aftermath of a years-past relationship, despite lyrics to the contrary.

It turns out that the photos she’s been sharing on Instagram over the past four days were actually teasers for this music video, unbeknownst to fans (although, with the lyrical captions, it was pretty obvious what was coming).
The beginning of the video — directed by Jacob Bixenman and released this morning (May 16) — alternates between a topless, fresh-faced Miley rolling around in bed to Miley in a metallic gold, super-high-leg leotard and matching pumps in a wood-paneled room, singing, “I’m sorry that you’re jaded / I could’ve taken you places / You’re lonely now and I hate it.”
But outside in the gold outfit with a pair of matching sunglasses, she doesn’t look sorry one bit.
Halfway through the surf-rock song, Miley moves to the pool in a series of black swimsuits, beach-y waves blowing in the wind beneath the palm trees. Who could possibly feel apathetic about having seen too much of Miley?
The California dreamy vibe is broken a bit when she shouts the lyrics, “And it’s a f****** shame that it ended like that / You broke your own heart but you’d never say that / We went to hell but we never came back.”
Maybe there is some residual anger there. But even though she knows that “it won’t be easy” moving on from this lover, and that she’ll be jealous seeing them with someone new, they’re both older now — and she’s the true jaded one.
“Jaded” Lyrics
I don’t wanna call
And talk too long
I know it was wrong
But never said I was sorry
Now I’ve had time to think it over
We’re much older
And the bone’s too big to bury
Isn’t it a shame that it ended like that
Said goodbye forever but you never unpacked
We went to hell but we never came back
I’m sorry that you’re jaded
I could’ve taken you places
You’re lonely now and I hate it
I’m sorry that you’re jaded
You’re not even willing
To look up at your part
You just jump in your car
And head down to the bar
‘Til you’re blurry
Don’t know when to stop
So you take it too far
I don’t know where you are
And I’m left in the dark
‘Til I’m worried and it hurts me
And it’s a fucking shame that it ended like that
You broke your own heart but you’d never say that
We went to hell but we never came back
I’m sorry that you’re jaded
I could’ve taken you places
You’re lonely now and I hate it
I’m sorry that you’re jaded
I won’t lie, it won’t be easy
When somebody new’s on your body
I’ll change my number but keep your t-shirt
I don’t mind it’s torn up and faded
I’m sorry that you’re jaded
I could’ve taken you places
You’re lonely now and I hate it
I’m sorry that you’re jaded
I’m sorry that you’re jaded
