Thus far, the playoffs have been a coming-out party on a national level for many players in the NL. Brewers star outfielder and presumed NL MVP Christian Yelich’s second-half tear led the Brewers to their first National League Central title since 2011. Dodgers third baseman Justin Turner also had the best postseason series of his career in the NLDS against the Braves. The journeyman went 5 for 14 as the Dodgers took three of four from the NL East champs.
In the American League, it’s been a lot of the familiar faces you’ve gotten to know the past few seasons. The reigning World Series champion Astros are back in the ALCS for the second straight year, led by names like Jose Altuvé and Alex Bregman. This year, the Astros are set to take on the Red Sox, who have superstars like Mookie Betts and JD Martinez carrying them through the postseason.
