Golden Knights-Kraken Matchup

The two Pacific Division teams in the Western Conference are the youngest in the NHL and featured some of the most excited stories of 2023. Last year, the Golden Knights hoisted the Stanley Cup, and the Kraken upset the 2022 champs, the Colorado Avalanche, in the second round of the playoffs (before losing in seven games to the Dallas Stars). Currently, Vegas sits in second in the Pacific Division (22-10-5), while Seattle has dug themselves into an early hole (13-14-9).

About the NHL Winter Classic

The NHL Winter Classic has become an annual New Year’s tradition. For the past 15 years, a city is designated as the host of the event paying tribute hockey’s outdoor origins. Started in 2008, the NHL Winter Classic first featured the Buffalo Sabres and Pittsburgh Penguins competing at Ralph Wilson Stadium in Orchard Park, New York. Since then, the event has taken place in venues such as the historic Wrigley Field in Chicago, Michigan Stadium in Ann Arbor, Fenway Park in Boston, and the Cotton Bowl in Dallas.
