Nick Chubb enjoys making pre-draft process a family affair
Nick Chubb’s journey to the NFL has played out more publicly than those of many other prospects in the Class of 2018. With the notable exception, that is, of his cousin, Bradley Chubb.
Nick Chubb’s journey to the NFL has played out more publicly than those of many other prospects in the Class of 2018. With the notable exception, that is, of his cousin, Bradley Chubb.
Through a promotional agreement that reached with a company that happens to share their name, Chubb Insurance, Nick, a running back from Georgia, and Bradley, a defensive end at North Carolina State, are featured in a series of videos (available online) that have captured the steps they’ve taken in advance of next week’s NFL Draft.
‘I got to see Bradley a couple times because we’ve been in the same place’
“We were able to get a deal where we can kind of get like a path of our draft, just following us throughout the whole draft process and they’ve been doing videos before the NFL Combine and after and right up to the draft and they’ll be with us on draft night,” Nick Chubb told Alex Marvez and Gil Brandt on Late Hits. “It’s been a nice little deal. I got to see Bradley a couple times because we’ve been in the same place. Last week we had a deal in Atlanta, so it’s sweet. Just getting to see him more and going through this together with him has been an awesome process.”
Nick reports that the knee he severely injured in 2015 is no longer an issue. But it took time to reach that point.
‘I couldn’t move as I wanted to, but after that things started feeling a lot better‘
“It was really tough, just the whole deal with my knee,” he said. “The 2016 season, I didn’t really feel like myself, kind of sluggish. I couldn’t move as I wanted to, but after that things started feeling a lot better and (since) the beginning of this 2017 season, I feel like myself again.”
Nick has spent a good deal of the offseason working on his receiving skills, an area he had little chance to develop while at Georgia.
‘It’s just we ran the ball so much, I wasn’t asked to catch the ball at all‘
“It’s not the fact that I went out there and then dropped balls thrown to me,” he said. “It’s just we ran the ball so much, I wasn’t asked to catch the ball at all. I can catch the ball well. I’ve been doing it in the offseason.”
