Back in December, Nonpoint told fans they were heading into the studio with Rob Ruccia to record their ninth full length album. They promised the album would not only make heads bang but further “roll off your shoulders and jump into the pit and start doing the Morning Star.”
Titled The Poison Red, the album will be the first to feature lead guitarist BC Kochmit, whom frontman Elias Soriano credits as a game changer for the band, dubbing him “Eddie Van Halen’s illegitimate child.”
Octane (Ch. 37) is excited to premiere Generation Idiot, the first taste of the new effort.
Soriano said the song was inspired by Internet culture, which breeds digital “zombies.”
“Over the past five years, I began to notice people, myself included, getting lost in a few of the simple things – life, art, passions,” he explained. “Everything became a reality TV blog with pictures and comments, likes and dislikes, online bullies and online tough guys. And no one is talking anymore. Everything is texts, emails, replies and denies. They’re all anchors. They all suck the life out of life. It creates zombies with unhinged appetites. It’s a real zombie apocalypse and, motherfucker, I’m grabbing a machete and a shot gun.”
Check it out for yourself below, and make sure to check out the band live as they hit the road with In The Moment starting August 12 in Sturgis, South Dakota.
