During this year’s Elvis Week celebration, SiriusXM presented a historic, first-time Town Hall broadcast LIVE from Graceland on Elvis Radio (Ch. 19) with Priscilla Presley.

She was joined by Elvis’ close friend and confidant Jerry Schilling along with singer/songwriter/actor Mac Davis, and acclaimed Elvis biographer, author and cultural historian Peter Guralnick.

The conversation covered a wide-range of topics including the first Mac Davis song that Elvis recorded (A Little Less Conversation), what it was like being in the icon’s entourage, how his song In The Ghetto is still relevant today, and much more. One of the funniest moments: When Mac Davis told the story of how Elvis’ dream was to appear on Rowan & Martin’s Laugh-In, the classic sketch comedy television program.

Davis recalled: “He said, ‘I want to go on Laugh-In.’ And I said, ‘Laugh-In?’ And he says, ‘Yeah.’ He says, ‘I want to get on that tricycle. You know the guy that’s on the tricycle, and they got the yellow rain slicker on you know? I want to get on there and ride the thing, and I want the hood up so they can’t see it’s me. So I go around in circles, then I come up to the camera, and I get right up to the cameraman, and I look up, and I go, ‘Sock it to me, baby!'”

Unfortunately, Elvis’ manager thought it would be bad for his image, so he never went through with it.

“That’s his sense of humor,” Priscilla added. “He was real quirky in his sense of humor, and Laugh-In had it down. And he watched it every week. He loved it.”
