1st Wave Host Richard Blade Receives Hollywood Walk of Fame Star

On June 6, Richard will be honored with the 2,782nd star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

Legendary radio personality and 1st Wave (Ch. 33) host Richard Blade will be honored with the 2,782nd star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in the Radio category during a ceremony at 11am PT on June 6 at 1725 Vine Street.

The ceremony will feature speakers including Walk of Famer Jimmy Kimmel and Richard Blade Fan Club Coordinator Oscar E. Alvarez, Jr.

“The Hollywood Chamber of Commerce is proud to honor radio personality Richard Blade with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame,” stated Ana Martinez, Walk of Fame Producer. “Richard has enriched many lives with his incredible talent and passion for music. This ceremony will bring back great memories and music from the 1980s when he was with the Los Angeles radio station, KROQ. What makes this award even more special for Richard is that he was nominated by his fans!”

During his 18 years at KROQ, Richard worked alongside industry icons such as Rick Carroll, Kevin Weatherly, Dusty Street, Larry Groves, Mike Evans, Freddie Snakeskin, Rodney on the ROQ, Jed the Fish, Swedish Egil, Kevin & Bean, Jimmy Kimmel, Adam Carolla, Carson Daly, and Dr. Drew.

Today, Richard Blade is an instantly recognizable voice at SiriusXM, having hosted multiple shows on the 1st Wave channel over the years, including “Just Can’t Get Enough with Richard Blade,” “Theme of the Week,” and “Magnificent 7 Mondays.” He was instrumental in breaking many new-wave bands, including Duran Duran, Depeche Mode, and Tears For Fears.

In addition to his new star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, Blade’s contributions to music and entertainment have been recognized with numerous awards, including The Golden Microphone, California’s Best DJ, Brit-of-the-Year, and the American DJ Association’s Lifetime Achievement Award. Last summer, the L.A. City Council proclaimed June 9 as Richard Blade Day in Los Angeles.
