Russell Westbrook or James Harden, that’s the question.

With less than a week to go in the 2017 regular season, the debate surrounding who should win NBA MVP is heating up.

Despite Westbrook averaging a triple-double for the entire season with a ridiculous 31.8 points, 10.4 assists, and 10.7 rebounds, talk has been creeping in about Harden possibly taking the honors. The reasoning is pretty simple: Harden is not far behind in stats with 29.2 points, 11.2 assists, and 8.1 rebounds. Plus, his team is third in the Western Conference to Russ and the Thunder’s sixth seed.

It’s enough to divide Bucks teammates John Henson and SiriusXM NBA Radio host Jason Terry. While Terry is taking Harden, Henson says he thinks it’ll probably go that way too despite his thinking Westbrook should get the award.

“I’m going to be honest, James Harden is probably going to win it,” Henson said on The Runway. “If Westbrook is in the top four of the west, he gets it. But he’s not.”

It’s a popular opinion in recent days, but Westbrook still has a few strong supporters – Hall of Famers Allen Iverson and George McGinnis.

“I think hands down it’s Russell Westbrook because we never thought this would happen again,” Iverson told SiriusXM NBA Radio when asked who he was taking in the MVP race. “And even if he doesn’t accomplish that (averaging a triple-double for the entire season), which I know he will, still, just getting that close to excellence. I mean, you gotta take your hat off to him.”

McGinnis agreed, simply stating he’s in awe every time he sees Russ take the floor.

“This is one of the most historic moments in the history of basketball,” McGinnis said. “I marvel every time I see him play.”
