Sen. Bernie Sanders on a potential 2020 presidential run
“There’s a whole lotta fights that we have to fight.”
In this May 25, 2016, photo, Democratic presidential candidate Sen. Bernie Sanders, I-Vt., speaks during a campaign rally in Cathedral City, Calif. Sanders has fired up crowds on promises of free college, single-payer health care and breaking up big banks. But in the waning days of his White House bid, he is seeing broad support for a more esoteric pitch _ changing the presidential nominating process. As the primary season concludes, Americans say in a poll by the Associated Press-NORC Center for Public Affairs Research that they have little faith in the Democratic or Republican system for selecting a presidential candidate. Sen. Bernie Sanders has not made his decision on a 2020 presidential run, but the Vermont senator told SiriusXM Progress host Mark Thompson on Tuesday that he’s not taking it off the table.
“I think it’s much too early,” Sanders said. “People right now, our job right now, is to not only fight against this disastrous health care proposal, it is to take on all of Trump’s reactionary proposals.”
“There’s a whole lotta fights that we have to fight,” he added. “It’s just too early to be talking about an election three and a half years from now.”
