Here’s how Big Ten Radio voted to shape the first edition of the 2024 Power Rankings.

Here’s how the SXM Big Ten Radio team voted to shape this week’s first edition of the 2024 “Power Rankings”:

1. Ohio State

The Buckeyes kicked off their season with a convincing 52-6 win over Akron.

2. Penn State

The Nittany Lions traveled to West Virginia for their season opener and prevailed 34-12.

3. Oregon

The Ducks’ first game as an official member of the Big Ten resulted in a 24-14 victory over Idaho.

4. USC

The Trojans opened their Big Ten era in a winning fashion, beating LSU 27-20 in Las Vegas.

5. Michigan

The defending National Champion Wolverines had no problem taking down 30-10 at The Big House.

6. Iowa

The Hawkeyes were without head coach Kirk Ferentz (who was sitting out a one-game suspension) but still easily shut out Illinois State 40-0.

7. Rutgers

It was a successful start to the season for the Scarlet Knights with a 44-7 win over Howard at home.

8. Nebraska 

The Huskers rolled over UTEP 40-7 to open their season.

9. Washington

Welcome to the Big Ten to the Huskies with a 35-3 win over Weber State.

10. Wisconsin

The Badgers took down Western Michigan 28-14 to open their campaign.

11. Maryland

A big win to open the year for the Terps with a 50-7 blowout over UConn.

12. Illinois

The Fighting Illini blanked Eastern Illinois 40-0 to kick off their season.

13. Northwestern

It was close but the Wildcats topped Miami (Ohio) 13-6 in Evanston on Saturday.

14. Purdue

A 49-0 shutout over Indiana State got the Boilermakers off to a good start in 2024.

15. Michigan State

The Spartans edged out FAU 16-10 in East Lansing.

16. Minnesota

North Carolina spoiled the Gophers’ opener, beating Minnesota 19-17.

17. Indiana

The new era in Hoosiers football got off to a solid start with a 31-7 win over FIU.

18. UCLA

The Bruins had a fight on their hands before finally topping Hawaii 16-13.
