Three things standing in the way of LeBron bringing a title to L.A.

For those living under a rock, LeBron James announced last weekend that he will play for the Los Angeles Lakers for at least the next few years. Vegas has a lot of confidence in the revamped Lakers, but there are still three big obstacles remaining between LeBron leading L.A. to yet another title.

1. Kawhi Leonard needs to get to L.A.: Look, no offense to newly-signed Rajon Rondo, Lance Stephenson, or JaVale McGee, but this Lakers team – without the likes of a superstar like Kawhi Leonard – likely won’t get past the second round in the Western Conference. Gone are the days that LeBron could carry a band of misfit toys to the Finals. He’s gonna need a bonafide star to take down the Golden State Warriors or Houston Rockets.
2. The Warriors are scarier now: There’s no easy way to say this, but the Warriors are somehow already better than they were last season. They just signed DeMarcus Cousins, making their starting five officially an All-Star team. SiriusXM NBA Radio’s Frank Isola explained why the signing made sense for the Dubs and Boogie.
.@FisolaNYDN thinks there’s been an overreaction to Boogie signing with the #Warriors – do you agree?

3. The Celtics are young and dangerous: With LeBron out of the East, the Boston Celtics are the early favorites to get to the NBA Finals. With a young core of talented players, including Jayson Tatum and Marcus Smart. They already pushed a LeBron-led Cavs team to seven games in the Eastern Conference Finals. Add a healthy Gordon Hayward and Kyrie Irving to that squad, and the sky’s the limit for Boston.
