Pushing comprehensive tax reform during an event Tuesday at the Eisenhower Executive Office Building, President Trump promised “people with children are going to be able to benefit for the first time in a long time.”

“Ivanka wants that so badly,” Trump told SiriusXM Patriot host David Webb about the administration’s proposed child tax plan. “She fought so hard for it. And I started to realize that that was something that’s so important and people are loving it.”

The president then discussed his plan for tax reform.

“Right now, we are the highest taxed nation anywhere in the world, you can even say developed and undeveloped,” Trump said to Webb repeating a commonly used, but widely debunked, talking point. (During a recent press briefing, Press Sec. Sarah Huckabee Sanders clarified that the president was referencing the nation’s corporate tax rate in the developed economy.)

Trump added that while now “nobody understands what they’re doing” when it comes to filing taxes. His plan is “going to be simplification.”

“I talk in terms of tax cuts and reform,” Trump clarified. “We’re going to have four brackets, including a zero bracket. You’re going to be able to do your taxes, literally, on one page.”

The David Webb Show airs weekdays at 9 am ET on SiriusXM Patriot (Ch. 126).
