Good morning! A lot happens in sports, even when you’re not watching, so here are the top headlines and moments from yesterday, in case you missed anything while you were watching Grease Live.
Megatron says goodbye
Detroit Lions star receiver Calvin Johnson plans to retire, according to multiple reports. Johnson had been mulling retirement since before the 2015-16 season after dealing with multiple injuries over his nine-year career. At 30 years old, Johnson would go down as one of the best players to retire in their prime. It was just three seasons ago that Johnson set an NFL single-season record with 1,964 receiving yards.
The Detroit organization is hopeful that he will change his mind, but all signs point to Johnson saying goodbye. If this is it, then Godspeed, Megatron. Thanks for the memories.

John Scott gets the last laugh
John Scott turned the 2016 NHL All-Star game into one of the most satisfying stories of recent memory. Scott was voted into the 3-on-3 All-Star tournament as captain of the Pacific teams by fans who thought it would be a joke to have the notorious enforcer in the game. There was some speculation that the NHL tried to talk Scott out of attending the game, but he refused. Scott got the last laugh by scoring two goals in the tournament and receiving an overwhelming number of write-in votes from fans to win the MVP award.

Hornacek out in Phoenix
The Phoenix Suns fired head coach Jeff Hornacek after a 14-35 start to the season. The Suns had playoff aspirations this season after barely missing the postseason last year. Phoenix has a young nucleus that makes for exciting basketball, but it hasn’t translated into successful results so far. Here’s Frank Isola and Brian Scalabrine reacting to the firing on SiriusXM NBA Radio:
Derrick Williams brings the thunder
Our must-see moment comes from the New York Knicks’ 116-95 loss to the Golden State Warriors. Despite being outclassed for most of the game, the Knicks came out with the top highlight thanks to this thunderous throw-down from Derrick Williams. Enjoy:

Rumble shuts the lights out
A bonus must-see moment comes from UFC on Fox 18 in New Jersey. In the main event, Anthony ‘Rumble’ Johnson solidified his number-one contender status in the light-heavyweight division with a first-round knock out of Ryan Bader. Bader initiated the grappling exchange but Johnson ended up in top-position and put him to sleep with a series of brutal punches:
