Good morning! A lot happens in sports, even when you’re busy doing other non-sports-y stuff. So here are the top headlines and moments from yesterday, in case you missed anything while you were watching How To Get Away With Murder.

Why we love March Madness

Are your brackets busted yet? Most likely. A few teams told the NCAA, “To hell with your seedings!” and pulled off some upsets that no one saw coming. (Unless you’re that guy who doesn’t follow college basketball and filled out your bracket based on which cities you’ve traveled to.)

Yale and Arkansas-Little Rock filled the 5-12 upset quota. Yale upset No. 5 Baylor, 79-75, in a game that was less competitive than the final score suggests. Little Rock was the biggest surprise, beating fifth-seeded Purdue in a double-overtime thriller 85-83. Check out this cold-blooded shot to force overtime and the subsequent locker room celebration. Safe to say it was lit in Little Rock last night:

The 6-11 matchups were also unkind. No. 11 Gonzaga upended No. 6 Seton Hall, 68-52. No. 11 Wichita State used a stifling defense to upset No. 6 Arizona, 65-55. All three nine-seeds won in the dreaded 8-9 tilts. UConn outlasted Colorado, 79-75, while Butler defeated Texas Tech, 71-61. But the play of the night was Providence’s buzzer-beater to defeat USC, 70-69, in an exciting contest:

This is why we love March Madness!

Spurs extend home winning streak

On a night when the young cats get most of the shine, the big boys were not to be forgotten. The San Antonio Spurs extended this season’s home winning streak to 34 games by defeating the Portland Trail Blazers, 118-110. San Antonio has won 43 straight home games overall, dating back to March 2015. LaMarcus Aldridge and Kawhi Leonard had 22 points apiece while Tony Parker added 18 points and a season-high 16 assists. Check the highlights:

Most importantly, the Spurs took care of business ahead of Saturday’s clash of the titans against the Warriors. Golden State faces Dallas tonight, but the W’s and Spurs will enter Saturday’s match with the two best records in the NBA.

Phenomenal match between Kevin Owens and A.J. Styles

The main event of WWE Smackdown saw a very exciting match between Intercontinental Champion Kevin Owens and A.J. Styles. Fans have been waiting to see this match since the Royal Rumble when Styles debuted in the company and lasted 30 minutes before getting eliminated by Owens. The match was phenomenal (pun intended) as we saw countless momentum swings and both Styles and Owens showed off new moves in their arsenal. Unfortunately, Chris Jericho caused a distraction which led to Owen’s scoring the pinfall over “The Phenomenal One.” It’s looking like these three and a few other superstars like The Miz and Sami Zayn are on a collision course for a multiple-man ladder match for the intercontinental title at Wrestlemania 32.
