Good morning! A lot happens in sports, even when you’re busy doing other non-sports-y stuff. So here are the top headlines and moments from yesterday, in case you missed anything while you were watching the season finale of Better Call Saul.
NBA Playoffs: Mavs upset Thunder at home
We got our first real upset in the NBA Playoffs on Monday when the Mavericks escaped Oklahoma City with an 85-84 win over the Thunder to tie the series 1-1. Yeah, the Pacers already beat the Raptors, but those two teams are more evenly-matched than you’d think and it wasn’t a surprise to see Indiana get a win (Toronto won, 98-87, last night to tie the series). The Mavs got 21 points and 11 rebounds from Raymond Felton as their defense limited Kevin Durant to 7-for-33 shooting from the floor. He still managed to score 21 points to go with Russell Westbrook’s 19 points and 14 assists, but with a chance to win in the final seconds Durant missed a layup and Steven Adams’ putback came after the buzzer in this wild finish:
What a crazy finish to Game 2 of Thunder-Mavericks

No Steph Curry? No problem. The Warriors were able to beat the Rockets 115-106 to take a 2-0 series lead while Curry sat out with an ankle injury. Klay Thompson led the way with 34 points while Shaun Livingston added 16 points and six assists while starting in Curry’s place. The question now becomes whether or not Steve Kerr decides to hold Curry out of Thursday’s Game 3 to give the reigning MVP some extra rest.

NHL Playoffs: Kings win in overtime
Monday’s Stanley Cup Playoffs saw high-scoring affairs as the Capitals beat the Flyers, 6-1, and the Wild beat the Stars, 5-3. But further West, overtime was needed as the Kings were able to get a 2-1 win over the Sharks on a late goal from Tanner Pearson for our must-see moment of the night:

Raw not perfect, but solid once again
Monday Night Raw continued its upswing with a strong show last night. This edition focused on rivalries that are lower on the card, like advancing the Kevin Owens-Sami Zayn, Dean Ambrose-Chris Jericho, and Charlotte-Natalya feuds. Probably the biggest development was Luke Gallows and Karl Anderson’s attack on WWE world heavyweight champion Roman Reigns. It was a cool segment considering the their affiliation with current number-one contender A.J. Styles, who possibly could have orchestrated the attack. It will be interesting to see if and how Anderson and Gallows factor into the title match at the WWE Payback pay-per-view.
Look cool every morning. Find out what you missed in the sports world while you were sleeping, and impress your friends and co-workers. We won’t tell them you were actually watching Dancing With The Stars.
