NBA Playoffs: top seeds dominate
The NBA Playoffs got started this weekend and the results weren’t very surprising. Only one lower-seed won a game, with the Pacers beating the Raptors on Saturday. Sunday’s games were less exciting. The Cavs actually had the most trouble, having to overcome a seven-point deficit in the fourth quarter to defeat the upset-minded Pistons. Kyrie Irving and Kevin Love, who both suffered injuries in last year’s postseason, put up 31 and 28 points, respectively, to go with LeBron James’ 22. Still, the difficulty of that win has to be disconcerting for Cleveland. Maybe James needs to realize that Irving is not Steph Curry:

Miami beat Charlotte in a laugher, 123-91. San Antonio shut down Memphis, 106-74. That Spurs defense had the Grizzlies feeling some type’a way. If you listen closely, you can hear Kawhi Leonard saying, “You mad, bro?”

In the nightcap, the Clippers defeated the Blazers, 115-95. Blake Griffin returned in a big way with 19 points, 12 rebounds and six assists, including these two posterizing slams for our must-see moment:

Remember, you can catch every tip-off with SiriusXM NBA Radio (Ch. 86) and stay up-to-date with the broadcast schedule of each game. Tonight, the Warriors might be without Curry when they face the Rockets. The Mavs will hope for a better showing against the Thunder. The Raptors will be in desperation-mode to try avoid going down 0-2 to the Pacers.
NHL Playoffs: Isles win in overtime
Sunday’s Stanley Cup Playoffs were much more competitive. Nashville defeated Anaheim, 3-2, St. Louis downed Chicago, 3-2, Detroit shut out Tampa Bay, 2-0, and the New York Islanders scored an overtime victory over Florida, 4-3. Thomas Hickey was the hero of the night in our bonus must-see moment:
