Ovi scores No. 500
Washington Capitals star Alexander Ovechkin became the fifth-fastest player in NHL history to score 500 goals in Washington’s 7-1 win over Ottawa. The 30-year-old is the first Russian-born NHL player to ever reach the plateau, doing so in his 801st game which trails Wayne Gretzky (575 games), Mario Lemieux (605), Mike Bossy (647) and Brett Hull (693) as the fastest to reach the 500-goal mark. Ovechkin also put in his 501st later in the game. See the moment, a fireball from the top of the circle, below.
