Good morning! A lot happens in sports, even when you’re busy doing other non-sports-y stuff. So here are the top headlines and moments from yesterday, in case you missed anything while you were watching Black-ish.
Patriots pilfer Martellus Bennett from Bears
The rich got richer in New England as the Patriots traded a fourth-round draft pick to the Chicago Bears for tight end Martellus Bennett. Bennett battled injuries last season and finished with 53 receptions for 439 yards and three touchdowns. He made the Pro Bowl in 2014 with 90 catches for 916 yards and six touchdowns. Pairing Bennett with Rob Gronkowski, who is the best tight end in football, is a scary thought for the rest of the NFL. It may seem as though Chicago basically handed Tom Brady yet another weapon, and they very well may have, but Chicago was likely just going to cut Bennett and the fourth-round pick is a nice bonus for the Monsters of the Midway.
DeAndre’s dunk party
Our must-see moment comes from the Clippers’ 122-106 win over the Rockets. Lob City was in full effect as DeAndre Jordan attacked the rim ferociously, finishing countless alley-oop slams. Jordan finished with 23 points on 8-for-8 shooting to go with 16 rebounds. Check out his dunk party:
