While you were sleeping: Warriors tie ’95-’96 Bulls with 72 wins, Jordan Spieth collapses at Masters, #MambaWeek

Good morning! A lot happens in sports, even when you’re busy doing other non-sports-y stuff. So here are the top headlines and moments from yesterday, in case you missed anything while you were watching the season premiere of House Of Lies.

Warriors win No. 72

With a 92-86 win over the Spurs last night, the Warriors etched their name in history by tying the 1995-96 Chicago Bulls for the most wins in a regular season with 72. Golden State will have the chance to break the record in the final game of the season on Wednesday at home against Memphis. Stephen Curry led the way with 37 points as the ‘Dubs put up 57 points in the second half after being limited to 35 in the first. Golden State had previously lost 33 straight games in San Antonio and you should check out what our own Frank Isola had to say on that.

The Warriors also set a new NBA record with 34 road wins, ended the Spurs’ 48-game regular-season home winning streak and will be the first team to not lose back-to-back games in a season. After the game, Bulls legend Scottie Pippen took to Twitter to congratulate the Warriors:

Spieth collapses, Willett wins 2016 Masters

Danny Willett won the 2016 Masters Tournament with a 67 at Augusta National on Sunday after a huge collapse by Jordan Spieth. Spieth had taken a five-shot lead to the back-nine on Sunday but shot a 41, including a quadruple-bogey on the 12th hole, and finished tied for second. The post-tournament ceremony was incredibly awkward as Spieth, last year’s winner, had to present Willett with his green jacket:
