Born in Jamaica on February 6, 1945, Robert Nesta Marley became an integral part of popularizing reggae music around the world, earning him an induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1994 and ranking among the greatest artists of all time by Rolling Stone with and his album Exodus earning the title of Album of the Century by Time Magazine.

Beyond music, Marley’s legacy includes awards from the United Nations for his messages of peace, and Jamaica’s third highest honor, the Jamaican Order of Merit.
Following complications from melanoma, Bob Marley passed away on May 11, 1981 at the age of 36.
