Brett Favre describes what made him so successful on the field

What made Hall of Fame quarterback Brett Favre so great on the football field? We’ll let him answer that:

“I just loved to play,” Favre told his SiriusXM NFL family on Tuesday. “I was human, but when I went out on the field I took a lot of pride in the fact that I was there, I was practicing, and no matter how bad I felt off the field, that I was going to give you everything I could.”

Favre, who will host a weekly show on SiriusXM NFL Radio (Ch. 88) beginning in September, talked at length about his love for the game and what drove him to the success he had. By the way, some of the stats he put up still surprise him.

“Can you believe at one point I hled every passing record in the NFL?,” Favre said. You’ve got to be kidding me!”

Still, what means the most to Favre isn’t the trophies or the accolades, it’s the respect of those who have also stepped onto a football field on Sundays.

“I’m more honored when my peers, whether they’re older or younger, would say things like that,” Favre said.

During his 20 year career Favre won a Super Bowl, was invited to 11 Pro Bowls, and took home three MVP trophies. On the field, Favre’s improvising, cannon of an arm and fearlessness made him one of the most recognizable and popular players in the league.

Favre was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in early August.
