Cooper Koch Responds to Shock Over ‘Monsters’ Full-Frontal Nudity Scenes
“We all have bodies and body parts, and it’s sort of normal for me,” the actor said.
On a new episode of “The Jess Cagle Show with Julia Cunningham” on Radio Andy, actor Cooper Koch responded to the recent barrage of news headlines about his full-frontal nudity in the Netflix series “Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story.”
Cooper, who portrays Erik Menendez in “Monsters,” revealed to Andy Cohen on the October 14 episode of “Watch What Happens Live” that he did not use a prosthetic in the show’s nude scenes. The media’s reaction to this revelation has been “kind of shocking,” he told Jess and Julia.
“Here’s the thing. Two things can be true at once. I’m an actor, and I’m talking about doing a nude scene in a TV show,” Cooper said. “And yes, the TV show also has to do with sexual abuse. It’s just sort of an unfortunate pairing that happened.”
He continued, “I was comfortable doing it, and I just think, you know, we all have bodies and body parts, and it’s sort of normal for me. And I think it is kind of strange that literally every headline just is so fascinated by the fact that I did full frontal and I didn’t use the prosthetic when so many people have done it before. It’s not like a new thing.”
Appearing nude in “Monsters” wasn’t even a new thing for Cooper, who did similarly revealing scenes in the 2022 horror film “Swallowed.”
“So, I guess, yeah, I don’t know. I guess that’s just the way the media is,” he said.
“The Jess Cagle Show with Julia Cunningham” airs Monday through Friday at 2pm ET on Radio Andy (Ch. 102) and anytime on the SiriusXM app.
