“My song ‘Colors’ is about being in a relationship with someone and kind of watching the vibrancy slowly start to leak out of them, watch the colors start to fade, whether they’re falling victim to drugs or falling victim to work or any sort of negative behavior that’s kind of taking them away from the bright and lively person that they used to be,” she explained. “You can kind of see them start to fade to gray, and you wish you had them back the way that they used to be.”

Here are four more things we learned about the pop hitmaker:

  1. Their breakfast of choice is a plain bagel toasted with blueberry cream cheese from Dunkin’ Donuts. (Yup, everything is blue.)
  2. The coolest moment of her career so far was catching on fire at Coachella. “Now I can add ‘fireproof pop star’ to my resume,” they joked.
  3. She’s a big fan of The 1975 after “they put on one heck of a show” at the music fest. “There was this choir, and there was these lights, and the sun was going down, and Matty Healy had makeup all over him. It was crazy,” she said. “But I think the winner of that show was definitely Adam, because he was wearing an incredible suit.”
  4. Her sophomore studio album is coming — she promises! “I’m a little bit more of a creative roadblock person right now. Still kind of just trucking along,” they said. “This album two will come along eventually. I just have to pull it out of me, I swear!”
