Hip Hop Nation favorite Kendrick Lamar just surprised the world by announcing his fifth studio album, Mr. Morale & The Big Steppers. The acclaimed rapper and pgLang co-founder revealed the record will drop on May 13, and will be his final with Top Dawg Entertainment.

In a tweet linking to his Oklama website, Lamar made the announcement in response to a February tweet from a user that read, “Kendrick Lamar is officially retired.”

“The following statement was released today by oklama, through his company, pgLang at 11:00am PT in Los Angeles, CA,” the statement reads. “All factual information for this release will come directly from this source only.” K Dot also posted the announcement to Instagram.

The album will follow Lamar’s Pulitzer Prize-winning project, DAMN., which celebrated its five-year anniversary on April 14. Lamar recently announced two signees to his mysterious pgLang company with Dave Free: Baby Keem and Tanna Leone. He also revealed several projects involving Yara Shahidi, Brent Faiyaz and Jorja Smith with brands like Calvin Klein.

Additionally, Lamar delivered an epic career-spanning performance at Day N Vegas, highlighting his musical journey from Section.80 to DAMN.
