‘The All-Time Highlight’: Bill Belichick Praises Tom Brady in Heartfelt Reunion

On this week’s episode of “Let’s Go!” on SiriusXM, current host Bill Belichick was joined by former host Tom Brady.

One of the most legendary coach-player duos of all time, bringing home six Super Bowl wins for the New England Patriots from 2000–2019, Bill and Tom reminisced about their time on the field together and discussed their new roles in football media.

Remembering the Patriots Dynasty

Naming Tom, Lawrence Taylor, and Matthew Slater “the three greatest players in the game” and “a fantastic opportunity for a coach,” Bill called working with Tom “the all-time highlight” of his career.

“I learned so much from him every day in our meetings, watching him on the field, his leadership, his toughness, his gamesmanship … Tom is just at a different level than any other player that I’ve coached. And so it was a tremendous experience for me that I’ll always treasure,” he told co-host Jim Gray.

“I mean, I think I’m the most blessed guy in the world,” Tom said. “I’ve been able to live my dream as an athlete … And I loved my time playing, and I loved playing for Coach Belichick, and I loved playing at a great organization that tried to do the right things and really brought the best out of all of us.”

Continuing the Belichick Way

In a new stage of their football careers, the two are now bringing their expertise and experience to the broadcast booth: Tom as a color commentator for Fox and Bill as a regular contributor to multiple programs including “Manningcast,” “Inside the NFL,” and “The Pat McAfee Show” in addition to “Let’s Go!”

“I don’t think you could have a better person be involved for the public to actually listen to how games are being called. He’s got so much insight into the history of the game,” Tom said of Bill.

Tom also shared how he plans to use Bill’s coaching philosophy — “take something really complex, which is football because there’s so many moving parts, and create the simplicity for people to actually go out there on the field and all work together,” Tom explained — in his new commentating role.

“So many coaches that I’ve been around can make things very difficult for players to understand, and I think that Coach Belichick, that was the opposite of the way that he coached … So much of my commentary as I go on is going to be based on trying to make the game simple for the viewer to understand when we know it’s not simple,” he added.

Bill is also trying to adopt a quarterback mindset in his new work.

“I think I’ve kind of put myself in your shoes a couple times,” he told Tom. “It’s not quite the same on the ‘Manningcast,’ but you got 20 seconds to analyze everything, break down the last play, set up the situation for the next play, and then they’re on the ball calling signals and it’s not really much time.”
