Light the candles, scatter the rose petals, and get ready to fall head over heels for these dreamy throwback hits!

60s Gold (Ch. 73) is playing all the ’60s hits, from Motown to the British Invasion

Al Green — “Let’s Stay Together” (1972)

Through good or bad, happy or sad, Al Green is here for you. This track is so charming and smooth that it captured the public’s heart back in 1971 and rocketed to No. 1. It was even deemed a culturally and historically significant work by the Library of Congress’s National Recording Registry back in 2010! Got a love that makes you feel “brand new”? This may well be your track this Valentine’s Day. Play it loud, and — if it’s meant to be — stay together.

Etta James — “At Last” (1960)

“At Last” has long struck a romantic chord in our hearts. With its dreamy, instantly recognizable opening arrangement, this song is perfect for anyone who had to wait a little while to find their other half. Like “Let’s Stay Together,” it won the public’s hearts and was inducted into the National Recording Registry back in 2009 and it’s still a beloved classic today. Etta James’s sultry, powerful voice commands the song, setting the perfect tone for an extra-special Valentine’s Day.

Frankie Valli — “Can’t Take My Eyes Off You” (1967)

This song is just too good to be true! Frankie Valli is one of the most iconic crooners, and this hit — penned by Valli’s bandmate, Bob Gaudio, and producer, Bob Crewe — certainly helped cement his status as one of the romantic greats. Heath Ledger’s fun, troublemaking take on “Can’t Take My Eyes Off You” in the 1999 film 10 Things I Hate About You was also an iconic romantic moment — but could anything possibly top the original?

Marvin Gaye and Tammi Terrell — “Ain’t No Mountain High Enough” (1967)

This duet is guaranteed to get some toes tapping! Though the two recorded their parts separately, Marvin Gaye and Tammi Terrell still managed to create chemistry between them which has stood the test of time — it was inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame in 1999, and it remains popular even today. A testament to love prevailing no matter the situation, this would be a heart-warming track to share with a long-distance love this Valentine’s Day.

Barry White — “You’re The First, The Last, My Everything” (1974)

The lyrics by themselves could get anyone’s heart pitter-pattering, but Barry White’s iconic bass-baritone vocals tip this hit into being truly dreamy. Whether you’ve already found your sun, moon, and guiding star, or if you’re still looking for the first, last, and everything, there’s no better way to celebrate the wonder of love than with this song.
