Following a special Super Bowl-week panel discussion called, Beyond the Game: Tackling Race, at The Wharton School’s San Francisco campus, Bleacher Report Radio host Nicole Zaloumis spoke with Giants running back Rashad Jennings about the importance of Black History Month.

“So often when you talk about ‘Black’ or when you talk about ‘White,’ you instantly go to racism instead of just breaking down the barrier of the culture of race,” Jennings said. “I think [the panel] was a good step in knocking down that wall. Obviously, it’s not a topic that will be eliminated forever, but you just make small strides.”

Jennings also expressed his opinion on Carolina Panthers quarterback Cam Newton, a polarizing figure in the NFL this year thanks to his showboating style of play.

“It’s silly to me,” Jennings said. “He’s having fun, he’s the leader of the team, he’s winning. He’s not doing anything bad in the community. The only thing I see him doing is positive. But, it’s just because it’s at the quarterback position.”
