Seahawks’ Bobby Wagner on Pete Carroll’s ability to connect with young players
According to linebacker Bobby Wagner, Seahawks coach Pete Carroll’s high-energy approach is as robust as ever, and younger players are connecting with it.

The message hasn’t changed, nor has the delivery.
What’s different, to an extent, is Pete Carroll’s audience. It has gotten younger, which means, for some Seattle Seahawks players, the words and the meaning behind them sound fresh.
‘It’s kind of like a revival’
That, as far as veteran middle linebacker Bobby Wagner is concerned, has gone a long way toward helping the Seahawks right their ship after back-to-back losses. They are riding the wave of a 27-24 victory over the Green Bay Packers into Sunday’s game against the Carolina Panthers.
“(The message is) still all about competing, still all about Wednesday, Thursday, Friday — taking it one day at a time and things of that nature,” Wagner told Jim Miller and Pat Kirwan on Movin’ The Chains. “But I think, in essence, you do have a new set of ears. It’s kind of like a revival. You get to kind of say your message and you have people listening for the first time, and so it seems like a new message even though it’s the old one.”
‘He’s still positive, still bouncing around, still very, very youthful’
Carroll’s high-energy approach is as robust as ever. Younger players are connecting with it, Wagner said.
“You can see he’s still positive, still bouncing around, still very, very youthful,” the linebacker said of the 67-year-old coach. “He changed his diet, so he’s running around a little bit about more now. We have the right group to listen and to lead and to push that message forward.”
