Would you accept a rose from Jenny McCarthy?
The Bachelorette reaches its romantic/dramatic conclusion Monday night, when JoJo Fletcher chooses Jordan Rodgers (aka the estranged brother of NFL quarterback Aaron) or Robby Hayes (aka the dude with a questionably timed breakup).
But more than a decade ago, the host of The Jenny McCarthy Show tried to become the first celebrity to find her happily ever after on the franchise.
“The year I got divorced, which was 14 years ago, I called The Bachelor and said, ‘I want to be The Bachelorette. Can you have a famous person? You don’t understand what I will do with these guys. I will make it so fun and funny,'” she said on Andy Cohen Live. “They said they want to keep it an authentic person.”
“Oh great, ’cause it’s so real,” Cohen joked.
“I go, ‘You guys made a huge mistake.’ Even my agents were against it,” McCarthy added. “I’m like, ‘You don’t understand. I am looking for love and I will rock these guys’ world and bust their — did you see me on Singled Out?'”
Of course, McCarthy didn’t need reality TV as matchmaker: She married hubby Donnie Wahlberg in August 2014.
Andy Cohen Live airs Mondays at 10 am ET on Radio Andy (Ch. 102).
