Kelvin Beachum likes it all — the team, the teammates. He even likes the change in climate, from warmer to colder.

Everything about being a member of the New York Jets, who he joined as a free agent from the Jacksonville Jaguars, agrees with the veteran offensive tackle so far.

‘Coach Coughlin came into Jacksonville and made some change and I wasn’t part of those changes’

“It’s actually been great,” Beachum told Bob Papa and Geoff Schwartz on the Opening Drive. “I didn’t think that I was going to be leaving Jacksonville. I thought I was going to be there for some time, but God had another plan and, also, business takes over.

“Coach (Tom) Coughlin came into Jacksonville (as executive vice president of football operations) and made some changes and I wasn’t part of those changes, so life goes on and business continues to have to be done. So I had the opportunity to go to New York. I’m excited about the opportunity, I’m excited about where we are right now.”

‘We’re playing fast, playing smart, communicating’

Beachum said the Jets’ have had a “great offseason thus far.” During their most recent OTA practices, he was impressed with the tempo and energy.

“We’re playing fast, playing smart, communicating,” he said. “I love where we are right now, it’s fun. Back into the rhythm. I love being back in the Northeast, where it’s cold, I love playing for the fans. So excited to be back up this way playing football.”

‘I feel great, I can really say I feel great’

In 2015, as a member of the Pittsburgh Steelers, Beachum suffered a torn left ACL that sidelined him for the rest of the season. He spent the next season with the Jaguars.

Now, Beachum is fully recovered.

‘This (training) staff has done a tremendous job to put me in the position to come back and be the player that I know I am’

“I feel great, I can really say I feel great,” he said. “Usually, you’re going through the process and people ask how you feel, mentally you’ve got to keep saying, ‘I feel good,’ whether you feel good or not. And right now I can really say that I feel great. Ran full speed (Thursday), which was amazing. … this (training) staff has done a tremendous job to put me in the best position to come back and be the player that I know I am and be that player for an entire game.

“Not a quarter and a half, two quarters, but the entire game and get back to the type of football I knew I could play on a consistent basis.”
