“Blood Sweat & Tears”
Released as the lead single from their flawless Wings album in 2016, “Blood Sweat & Tears” helped catapult BTS to international acclaim when it reached number one on the Billboard World Digital Songs chart. To create its distinct vibe and atmosphere, the song cleverly draws on various genres, including trap, tropical house, and moombahton. Combined intricately with themes of love and temptation, “Blood Sweat & Tears” is a masterpiece we’ll never forget.

“Spring Day”
As well as being excellent performers, BTS is also known for having incredible lyrics. This is displayed perfectly in their song “Spring Day,” which uses the changing of the seasons as a metaphor for missing someone and longing for their return. Released in 2017, this nostalgic track was an instant fan favorite and saw huge global success, peaking at 15 on Billboard’s Bubbling Under Hot 100 chart. Paired with the track’s pastel-colored music video, “Spring Day” is the ultimate cozy vibes song!
“Not Today”
Shortly after “Spring Day” came the anthemic “Not Today,” both released as singles from BTS’ You Never Walk Alone album. The song saw great success internationally, with a well-deserved number-one spot on the Billboard World Digital Songs chart. Taking a distinctly different tone to their prior release, “Not Today” is a synth-heavy hip-hop song that tackles complex themes like injustice and corruption, calling on “all the underdogs in the world” to stand up and “fight.” BTS’ commitment to social issues has been a massive draw for fans globally, and “Not Today” was an excellent example of the mark they intend to leave on the world.

“DNA”
If you couldn’t already tell, 2017 was a massive year for BTS, and the release of “DNA” made it even bigger. “DNA” was the first single from BTS’ Love Yourself: Her mini-album, the first in the three-part Love Yourself album series. Featuring pop and EDM influences, “DNA” was an instant earworm. It was almost impossible not to whistle along with Jungkook’s intro! This was a major milestone for the band, marking their first entrance into the Billboard Hot 100 chart.

“MIC Drop (Steve Aoki Remix)”
Originally a B-side track, this single version of “MIC Drop” was released in November 2017. Remixed by Steve Aoki, the single brought more of an EDM influence to the heavy hip-hop track. The group also released a version of the remix with Desiigner, his trap-influenced rap style perfectly complimenting Steve Aoki’s version of the song. Until then, the band had never collaborated with an American artist, making the “MIC Drop” remix another major milestone for BTS.

“Dynamite”
After years of requests from international fans, BTS finally released their first entirely English single, “Dynamite,” in 2020. Drawing largely on ’70s and funk influences, the global success of this song was unsurprising, given the popularity of disco-pop music in 2020. BTS combined this addictive sound with incredibly catchy lyrics to create the “disco overload” that is “Dynamite!”

“Butter”
BTS decided to bless our ears with “Butter” in 2021. This song was just as smooth as we expected, blending influences from EDM and dance-pop with an upbeat retro vibe. BTS paired this bright new single with an equally colorful music video, giving us a classically charismatic BTS dance routine and injecting even more flavor into “Butter.”

“No More Dream”
Released ten years ago today, “No More Dream” is the song that started it all for this powerhouse group. Taking on a heavy hip-hop sound, BTS used this song to criticize the lack of passion they felt from their generation, who simply desired only a “big house, big cars, and big rings.” This song perfectly introduced who BTS were and the issues they cared about — setting the tone for their career and laying the foundations for their immense success.
