The Chicago Bears had worked on the play all week.
On Sunday night, coach Matt Nagy dialed it up: a throw from quarterback Mitchell Trubisky to wide receiver Anthony Miller. The 18-yard connection capped an 82-yard drive and gave the Bears an 11-0 lead that would provide all the momentum necessary on the way to a 25-20 victory against the Minnesota Vikings Sunday night.
‘Mitch gave me a good ball and I went down and got it’
“Oh, yeah, it gave us a lot of momentum,” Miller told Zig Fracassi and Brad Hopkins on NFL Rewind. “That’s a play we’ve been working on throughout the entire week. We executed to perfection. Mitch gave me a good ball and I went down and got it.”
Nagy was at his creative best, using plenty of hurry-up offense and moving the pocket with designed roll-outs.
‘All we’ve got to do is go out and execute, and that’s what we did’
“Coach Nagy, he’s a great offensive mind,” Miller said. “We believe in him a hundred percent, whatever route he decides to take throughout the game. All we’ve got to do is go out and execute, and that’s what we did.”
