Nick Chubb thinks Browns’ ‘energy has shifted into a better place’

Nick Chubb realizes that it doesn’t simply happen, that there’s much more to Cleveland Browns being in the unlikely position of finding themselves in the postseason hunt after an in-season coaching change and with a rookie at quarterback than simply stepping onto the field each week.

Nick Chubb realizes that it doesn’t simply happen, that there’s much more to Cleveland Browns being in the unlikely position of finding themselves in the postseason hunt after an in-season coaching change and with a rookie at quarterback than simply stepping onto the field each week.

“We definitely worked for it,” the rookie running back told Zig Fracassi and Brad Hopkins on SiriusXM NFL Radio after the Browns’ 17-16 victory against the Denver Broncos. “Dating way back to OTAs and camp, we prepared for games like this and it’s finally starting to pay off for us.”

‘We all love playing with each other’

So much has changed for the Browns since Baker Mayfield, the top overall pick of the draft, became their starting quarterback and Hue Jackson was fired as their coach and replaced by defensive coordinator Gregg Williams on an interim basis.

“I think everyone’s just bought into the new system and we’re playing hard for each other”

“I think just our energy has shifted into a better place,” said Chubb, who rushed for 100 yards on 20 carries. “The guys are all buying in. We all we all love playing with each other. We love the people coaching us. I think everyone’s just bought into the new system and we’re playing hard for each other.”

‘(Mayfield) knows we want to play for him’

In particular, the rest of the members of the Browns’ offense are playing hard for Mayfield.

“He just brings so much energy to the team and we feed off of it,” Chubb said. “He knows we want to play for him.”
