Damarious Randall says Browns ‘ready to win right now’
Cornerback/safety Damarious Randle believed he had been productive enough since joining the Packers as a first-round draft pick from Arizona State in 2015 to warrant remaining with them. The Packers had other ideas. And now Randle is ready to contribute to what he believes is going to be a dramatic turnaround for a team that has won one game in the past two seasons.

Damarious Randall admits he was “quite surprised” in March when the Green Bay Packers decided to trade him to the Cleveland Browns.
The cornerback/safety believed he had been productive enough since joining the Packers as a first-round draft pick from Arizona State in 2015 to warrant remaining with them. ‘(General Manager John) Dorsey and his staff put together a very, very good roster’
“It is just a blessing just to have the opportunity to just go out and just compete every day,” Randall told Jim Miller and Pat Kirwan during a recent appearance on Movie’ The Chains. “We have a very young team, but I feel like we have the pieces to win and win now. And that’s the most exciting part about it, that (General Manager John) Dorsey and his staff put together a very, very good roster and had a very, very good draft and I feel like we’re ready to win right now.”
Randall is particularly excited about the chance to play for Browns defensive coordinator Gregg Williams, who preaches aggressiveness by all of the players on the unit. For Randall, Williams’ philosophy of putting making plays ahead of technical details is perfect.
‘If 11 guys are running to the ball, looking to make contact with the ball-carrier, good things happen then’
“It’s 11 guys to the ball,” Randall said. “Speed, burst, we will correct everything on Monday. But at the end of the day, every play, if 11 guys are running to the ball, looking to make contact with the ball-carrier, good things happen then. And I feel like we have that, not only with the 11 guys but I feel like we’ve got 20 to 22 guys that were going to be running to the ball and are going to be ready to compete week in and week out.”
Although he is seen as a versatile defensive back, Randall considers free safety his best position.
‘That’s the one thing Gregg (Williams) is real, real big on — turnovers, turnovers, turnovers’
“Because I’m more a getting-the-ball type of guy and I was born and raised on see-ball, get-ball,” he said. “And that’s the one thing Greg is real, real big on — turnovers, turnovers, turnovers. And that’s probably why he feels like I’m a great, great asset to the team and just hope everything works out well.”
