First, I wanted to share some big news: Instead of being your your MBFF (“Muslim Best Friend Forever”) just one day a week, I will be there for you five days a week. That’s right, starting this Monday, June 20, my show is moving from Saturday morning to Monday to Friday from Noon to 1PMET on Channel 121 (Insight.) It will be a fun show where we look at everything from politics to pop culture. Thanks to all who have tuned in over the past year and half. And I hope you will now join me Monday through Friday!
So what’s on tap for my last LIVE Saturday show?
Do Muslims really hate gays? Well many on the right want you to believe that. But I’ll be joined by two good friends, one Muslim and one gay, who are teaming up to counter that misconception. Rabia Chaudry, a lawyer and known for her work on Adnan Syed’s case and her podcast “Undisclosed” and Shaun T, who is well known for his work as a fitness motivator, TV host and creator of the mega selling “at home” fitness DVDs INSANITY, Hip Hop Abs, and more join me to talk about how the LGBT and Muslim communities are working together to fight both homophobia and Islamophobia.
How do we effectively counter ISIS’s efforts to radicalize American Muslims? MSNBC’s counter terrorism expert Laith Alkhouri returns to the show to discuss the comments of CIA director John Brennan on Thursday that ISIS will likely be intensifying its efforts to inspire terrorism in the West. What is best approach to fight that? Does Donald Trump’s comments about Muslims help or hurt in that fight?
You are my guest. In this segment, it’s you, the SiriusXM listener, that’s my guest. I don’t want you to just join the conversation, I want you to drive the conversation. The issue Saturday is:
Did Donald Trump fail the commander in chief test with his response to Orlando? Trump’s response to the Orlando shooting was bizarre mix of congratulating himself for predicting the terror attack, to accusing President Obama of sympathizing with ISIS to literally fabricating facts. I note the eight alarming mistakes Trump made in the 48 hours after Orlando in my CNN article this week. Do you think Trump handled it well? Do you think trump has the temperament to be commander in chief?
Hope you not only tune in to my LIVE show, but join the conversation at 877-974-7487. I want to hear what you think about these issues, plus join us for our weekly “Ask A Muslim” a question segment.
My show airs live every Saturday at 10 am to noon ET on SiriusXM Insight (Ch 121) and repeats several times over the weekend. It is also available On Demand. Hope you check it out and better yet give us a call during the show to “Ask a Muslim” a question, discuss issues of the week or even be contestant on our weekly segment “Name That Religion.” And as always, I want to be your Muslim friend – so if you don’t have one follow me on Twitter at @deanofcomedy and I’ll follow you back or ask me questions at facebook.com/deanofradio.
