Ben Watson’s 1-yard touchdown catch from Drew Brees Sunday was vital to the New Orleans Saints’ 24-23 victory against the Baltimore Ravens.

‘It’s amazing to take the field with him’

It also was part of an NFL milestone, because it was Brees’ 500th career TD throw. Watson was grateful that he was target for such an unforgettable moment.

“It’s amazing to take the field with him and to be a part of history,” Watson told Zig Fracassi on NFL Rewind. “That guy never ceases to amaze all of us.”

‘When the play was called, I did think about it’

Watson was mindful of what the catch would mean when he heard the play call in the final two minutes of the first half at M&T Bank Stadium.

“We’re thinking about every single play and when the play was called, I did think about it,” Watson said. “I thought about if it would be open and if I would catch it and then give Drew the ball because it was his 500th touchdown.

‘We were going to have to be good in all three phases of the game and we were going to fight to the end’

“But I think coming into the game we understood that they’re very tough opponent. We were going to have to be good in all three phases of the game and we were going to fight to the end. This game came down to the very end.”
